Carmen Lynn Bowden

Carmen Lynn Bowden, 53, of Dilworth, MN, left us on July 15, 2019. 

Carmen Lynn (Hauge) Bowden was born in Minot, ND, to Carroll and Gloria Hauge. She graduated from Fargo South High School and attended North Dakota State University. She entered the workforce bartending at the Fargo VFW and the Fargo Legion.  She honed her skills of communicating and working with people and moved to her career as a paraprofessional with the Moorhead School District, where she worked for 20 years.  

Carmen married Jeff Bowden on September 5, 1992.  Jeff brought two children to the marriage and together they had two more. Carmen had a love for all children.  She was a devoted mother to all of her own and had love left over for any others that needed her. The students that Carmen worked with in each different program at the District respected her and made academic and personal achievements thanks to her caring and time.  In addition to her family, one of Carmen’s greatest joys was spending time at the lake. She loved to garden, read, and dance, and especially loved spending time with and taking care of her family.  

Carmen was preceded in death by her father Carroll Hauge. She is survived by her husband, Jeff, their children Amanda (Jon) Bowden (Dilworth), Rusty (Charolotte) Bowden (Barnesville), Brady and Samantha (Dilworth), and six grandsons (Dominic, Connor, Aiden, Parker, Kane, Ivan). She is also survived by her mother, Gloria Hauge (Grand Forks), her twin brother Curtis Hauge (Fargo), her mother-in-law Darlene Bowden (Baker, MN), sisters-in-law June (Karl) Haeske (Jordan, MN), Cindy (Jeff) Picka (New Prague, MN), Susie (Brian) Gunst (Marine on St. Croix, MN), plus many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a large extended family.

Anyone who knew Carmen, knows she is not ON the stairway to Heaven; she ran to Heaven and is already enjoying her time there with the loved ones who preceded her. 

Service information:  Funeral services will be held at Dilworth Lutheran Church, 406 Third Avenue NE, Dilworth, MN, on Monday, July 22, at 2:00PM. Visitation will be before the service, from 12:00PM - 2:00PM. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the Bowdens or a charity of your choice. The family will be remembering Carmen with a gift to Moorhead Area Public Schools to support the students at Red River Area Learning Center where she worked and so her legacy will live on. Staff and students were blessed by her caring and compassionate spirit. She will be deeply missed.
