Graveside Memorial service for Donald Edward Hutchins, 58, of New Braunfels, TX, formerly of Wilmot, SD will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2020 at 1:30 PM at the Garfield Lutheran Cemetery, Wilmot, SD. with Rev. Martin Herzberg officiating. Honorary Urn bearers will be “all of Donald’s children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, family and friends.” Inurnment will be in the Garfield Lutheran Cemetery, Wilmot, SD. Social distancing and masks are recommended. There was a memorial service held on September 26, 2020 at Camp Huaco Springs in New Braunfels, TX. The Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, SD is in charge of local arrangements.

Donald Edward Hutchins was born on May 11, 1962 in Perry, IA to James Edward and Carol Emma (Greiner) Hutchins. He grew up and attended school in Wilmot graduating from Wilmot High School in 1980. He joined the Army National Guard in 1980 and served with the 740th unit from Milbank, SD. He farmed with his father for several years. Donald went to Texas and attended school becoming a diesel mechanic. He worked for several companies in Texas. He was married to the love of his life, Cindy Spakes. Donald was an avid outdoorsman, hunting, and fishing, gardening, and doing yard work. He loved horses and was an excellent rider, he also loved his pets, and visiting with family and friends. He passed away on September 12, 2020 at his home in New Braunfels, TX with his family at his side.

Donald is survived by his loving and caring family, his wife Cindy of New Braunfels, TX, a son Kevin Hutchins of Milbank, SD, son Jason and Maria O’Bryant, daughter, Laura and Julian Medina of New Braunfels, TX, eleven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, his mother Carol Hutchins of Wilmot, SD, two brothers, Dennis and Annette Hutchins of Sisseton, SD, and Delvin and Sara Hutchins of Gary, SD, a sister Denise Hein of Cedar Falls, IA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was proceeded in death by his father, paternal grandparents, Jessie and Amanda Hutchins, and maternal grandparents Bernhard and Emma Greiner.
